Exterior and interior renderings for a new Sephardic synagogue in the Susya settlement in the Hebron Hills. A traditional Sephardic style adapted to the mountainous surroundings.
The Challenge
The community of Susya in the Hebron Hills sought to build a new Sephardic synagogue. The challenge was to convey to donors and the community a structure that reflects the richness of Sephardic tradition while integrating into the unique mountainous landscape of the area.
The Solution
We produced 4 renderings — one exterior rendering and two interior renderings of the prayer hall. The exterior rendering presents a structure with local stone cladding, domes, and arches in a traditional Sephardic style, integrated into the mountainous landscape. The interior renderings reveal the prayer hall with the central platform (bimah) characteristic of Sephardic tradition, an ornate Torah ark, hanging chandeliers, decorated flooring, and arched windows that introduce soft natural light into the space.
